Construction Operations · Carmel, California

You're building bigger than your systems can carry.

Plinth Advisory LLC builds the operating systems — process, documentation, billing discipline — that let a general contractor take on larger work without taking on larger exposure. We document how your business actually runs, then hand it to your team in writing.

This is for you if

You know the answer, and it lives in your head.

The estimate, the change order, the reason that subcontractor is on the do-not-call list. None of it is written down, and nobody else can run it.

Billing is the last thing to happen and the first thing to slip.

Work gets built faster than it gets invoiced, and money you earned is sitting in an email thread.

Every job is run a little differently.

Your superintendents are good, so it works — until one of them leaves, or a job goes wrong and the file can't defend you.

You're hiring, and there's nothing to hand them.

Onboarding is shadowing. It costs you a producing employee every time.

What the work is

Written down, built to be used, and honest about the boundary.

Document

How your company actually runs, written down.

Not a binder of theory. We watch the real process, write it as your team performs it, and mark the places where it depends on one person remembering.

Build

Systems your crew will actually use.

Process, templates, and the software to run them — built against written acceptance criteria, tested with the people who have to live in it, and handed over. The engagement ends when you accept it, not when we feel finished.

Refer

The line we don't cross, said out loud.

We are not a law firm and we do not give legal advice. We do not certify a system as secure, compliant, or error-free, and we do not run your systems for you after handoff. When a question belongs to an attorney, a CPA, or a licensed specialist, we say so and can introduce you to an independent one.

Recent work

Documenting field and office process for a Peninsula custom builder, rebuilding the billing and change-order workflow for a residential general contractor, and standing up the systems that let both take on larger projects without adding overhead.

How it works

A clear line from first call to firm footing.

Step 1

Intake

A short conversation and a structured intake form. We learn how you work now, what is breaking, and what you want to be able to take on next year.

Step 2

Assessment

We look at the real artifacts — contracts, change orders, invoices, job files — and give you a plain answer: what we can fix as your advisor, what needs a specialist, and what belongs with your attorney or CPA.

Step 3

The work

Documentation, systems, and the rollout to your team, scoped in writing with acceptance criteria agreed before we start.

Step 4

Handoff

You own it. Written, tested, and running with your people. If a matter later goes to an attorney, they start from an organized file instead of from zero.

Contractors are not the only seat at the table. We also represent owners on their own projects, help HOA boards and homeowners work through the rules before they become conflicts, support architects through review, and give realtors answers before their clients are under contract.
